Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder in which body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, where the hair-growth begins. Alopecia Areata is very common in younger age (age below 20). But it also affect in adults, both male and females equally.
First symptoms of Alopecia Areata are tiny bald patches. The underlying skin is unscarred and looks superficially normal. Although these patches will take several shapes, they are typically spherical or oval. Alopecia areata most frequently affects the scalp and beard, but could occur on any part of the body with hair. The area of hair loss might be painful. The hair tends to fall out over a short period of your time, with the loss commonly occurring a lot of from one side of scalp than other side. In some cases the hair may become thinner without noticeable patches of baldness, or it may grow and break off, leaving short stubs called “exclamation point” hair.
Causes:
- Heredity
- Emotional stress
- Nutritional deficiencies, like proteins and vitamins and iron
- Hormonal changes like during pregnancy.
- Fungal infection of the scalp
- Permanent dying, repeated bleaching or perming of hair.
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome ( PCOS)
- Some strong antibiotics and chemotherapeutic medicines.
- Acute or chronic phases of high fever or previous history of severe illness like typhoid, tuberculosis, malaria etc.
Homeopathy treatment:
Homeopathy medicine helps to cure altered autoimmunity disorder, by treating the altered immune system from its roots. It reduce the hair-fall, helps to regrowth the hair and also make hair stronger. Hence treatment may take a times depending on the patient’s response to the medicine. Duration of treatment depends on the patient’s severity of alopecia areata, affected area, previous medication like excessive use of cortisone and associated other medical condition like diabetes, thyroid etc. Positive changes can notice within 5 months of treatment, but treatment varies between 6 moths to 2 years. Homeopathy medicines are deep acting medicine than other medicines. So though they take a times, the results are permanent and non- reversible.
